Used for concreting generally but especially useful for large areas of concrete construction such as runways, motorways or bridgeworks. Advantages „ Reduces surface shrinkage and cracking by eliminating moisture loss from exposed surfaces „ Increases concrete strength and dusting resistance „ Eliminates the need for damp hessian, sand or polythene „ Rapid film formation „ Enables concrete to hydrate more efficiently „ Non-flammable; non-toxic „ Economical „ Suitable for potable water applications, complies with requirements of AS/NZS 4020:2005 Specification Compliance Concure WB30 complies with the requirements of AS3799 - 1998: liquid membrane - forming curing compounds for concrete. A copy of the certification is available on request. Description Concure WB30 is a low viscosity wax emulsion which incorporates a special alkali reactive emulsion system. This system ensures that the emulsion forms a non penetrating continuous film immediately upon contact with a cementitious surface. This impervious film prevents excessive water evaporation which in turn permits more efficient cement hydration thus reducing shrinkage and increasing durability. Design criteria To achieve the correct curing properties, Concure WB30 must be applied on to the substrate at the coverage rate recommended. The rate of degradation will depend upon initial membrane thickness and the degree of exposure to ultra violet light. Light reflectance: 62% for white pigmented (must be more than 60%) ASTM 309-74. Specification Clauses Concrete curing compound All designated areas are to have a liquid curing compound applied to the freshly finished concrete. The curing compound will be based on wax emulsion, have a water retention efficiency of not less than 90% when tested to AS3799 and have a weight solids content of not less than 30%. Such a material is Fosroc Concure WB30 as supplied by Parchem. The curing compound is to be applied in accordance with the manufacturers application instructions. Application Instructions Concure WB30 should be thoroughly mixed prior to use and spray applied to the surface of newly placed concrete. The compound should be applied as soon as possible after the concrete is free from surface water. The nozzle of the spray should be held approximately 450 mm from the concrete surface and should be passed back and forth to ensure complete coverage. The pump pressure should be maintained at a level producing a fine spray. Concure WB30 should not be continuously re-circulated through high shear gear pumps when used in concrete train application. If continuous re-circulation is essential the sprayer should be fitted with a low shear diaphragm pump. Rate of application should be 5.0 /litre. December 2010
