Junior Development Keeping in step with the focus of Equestrian Australia, the day of our trivia night we held a youth development clinic. Special mention has to be made to Danielle Govier who single handedly organised and administered the event. Further mention has to be made to Les Friend and Joanne Prestwidge who tirelessly dedicated their time to coaching at the clinic. In 2013 the Youth Development Squad which was a past project of saddlehorse was re introduced. The squad has now been selected and we look forward to our first 2013 school on the Thursday before the Horse of the Year. Newcomer Show In November 2012 we held our Newcomer Show. We also introduced a feature event for ponies, galloways and hacks called the “Diamond Jubilee” a sponsors marquee to thank those who have generously donated and children’s only ring which is a new initiative to saddlehorse. A special thank you has to be made to Robin Bland whose previous experience in running an event such as this has helped us cut through the event workload with precision. Thank you to our sponsors: Godfrey Carpet Choice Royalwood Stud Joh Bailey Sydney Equine Coaches ENSW Show Horse Committee Agnes Banks Equine RJF and Associates Highcroft Stud Royal Oak Stud Kiri Jenkins Rug Rack Grand Garlands CBC Constructions Sydney Equestrian Supplies Bennsville Riding School Mitavite Werribee Nationals 2012 The Australian Show Horse and Rider Championships of 2012 was undoubtedly the best competition I have ever been to. From the moment we arrived you could feel the importance of the event by the energy and effort that all there had gone too. Equestrian Victoria did not disappoint as hosts. The indoor arena was presented like the bird cage in Spring Carnival with its champion lawn and sponsors marquee. The stable aisles exhibited their respective state colors and walking down through them; you could not help but feel part of something special. Come Friday morning walking out to the warm up arena, I had would be lying if I did not have butterflies. Watching Team NSW preparing for its grand final made you realize that all that blood sweat and tears for 2012 was well worth it. This was it… what we all of our team hard worked so hard for. The show kicked off with the leading-reiners. We were represented by Koorana Royal Sensation and Radford Lodge Sweet Dreams and I can say our future is in good hands. The winner of this class was Radford Lodge Candy Cane, bred in New South Wales …. so we can lay partial claim to victory can’t we? Congratulations to Jo Harris for breeding a gorgeous pony. Next class was the Large Show Hunter Pony Championship where we represented by Parker Families Melody Park Heavenly Pearl, superbly ridden by Jess Stalling and Wingana Loving Cup ridden by Brandon Douglas. Brandon came out on his white horse to the song “Ghostbusters: which all put a smile our faces. 1) Radford Lodge Sweet Dreams Runner Up Leading Rein Pony 2) Annalisa Phillips rode Balledor Encore in Open Large Galloway 3) Sasha Parker-Eade rode Koorana Royal Sensation, Champion Leading Rein Pony Images by SWD Images 1 98
