6 7 8 The final round of the Rider’s Cup 1.35m Championship was an exciting event decided by some amazing lines ridden in the jump off. George Johnson’s great partnership with Wondaree Sprite gave him a 0.05 second victory over Vicki Roycroft and Noblewood Park Casino Royale. Daniel Engbers and Untouchable were third, Robert Moffat and AEA Orox fourth, Jennifer Wood and Sweetshot were fifth and Jess Brown on Yirkalla Zakyra were sixth. The Championship title was awarded to Vicki Roycroft and NP Casino Royale with a tie for second going to George and Jess. The Tripp Family and Jumping NSW Senior Championship Title was the feature event of the show. The tracks built by Leeson Sirett were big and challenging, creating some exciting competitions for the spectators watching the action in the indoor. The first round of the championship was a single round decided on the fastest time. Merrick Ubank was the fastest over the course in a time of 70.72 seconds with Aladino but had a rail. Of the three clear combinations Evie Buller was the fastest with her reliable Yalambi’s Landor in a time or 72.79 seconds, Lachlan Manuel was second with Congranda and Sharon Slater was third with CP Ulixes. Saturday’s Senior Championship class had no clear combinations in the first round. Three four faulters moved through into the second phase with all of these leaving the rails up over the shortened course. Evie Buller was the fastest with Yalambi’s Landor, just 0.16 seconds ahead of Sharon Slater and CP Ulixes. Tom McDermot and his new ride Cumo Z were third. Lachlan Manuel was fourth with one rail and a time penalty in the first round on Renmarno with his second horse Congranda fifth. The final of the Tripp Family and Jumping NSW Senior Championship held on Sunday afternoon had just two clears in the first round, Tom McDermott on Cumo Z and Sharon Slater on her lovely CP Ulixes. Five combinations were taken in to the second phase. Merrick Ubank and Evie Buller left all the rails up putting pressure on Tom to keep the jumps intact. Tom’s unflappable ability saw him not only go clear but do so in the fastest time of the round, giving him a resounding victory in the class. Sharon Slater, who finished in third place behind Tom and Evie, was the most consistent rider over the three rounds to win the Senior Championship with Evie Buller runner up. Event director Edwena Mitchell was thrilled with the new venue. “This is the third time I have hosted the NSW Jumping Championships – the previous two were held at Gundagai Showground. AELEC is a fabulous facility, very user friendly and the showjumpers were very happy to come to AELEC for our State Championships.” Rachel Smith Superb Show Jumping Action at the Sydney Summer Showjumping Classic CSI-W Thursday began the Summer Classic with the prestigious Oaks Medallion Young Horse Gala Day.
