1 2 3 The Equestrian NSW Young Rider Championship incorporated the Tekna Young Rider Series. Jack Maunder and Cyra won round 1, James Arkins and Dreamtime Invader won the Tekna leg in the outdoor arena and Queenslander Sarah McMillan and Belcam Armada won the final round. Sarah’s consistent performance on Queen of Diamonds over the three days, third, sixth and second, won her the Young Rider Championship. The Equine World Amateur Championship, featuring a round in the hotly contested Jumping NSW Amateur of the Year series, had rounds one and two won by Sarah Blumson and Hendrickson. Round three was won by Katy Penman and Cabezo. Melissa Blair and Flying Teddy were the overall winners of the Championship with Sarah runner up. The Winning Appliances 1.25m Championship began on Friday in the indoor. Daniel Engbers was the fastest over the Sirett designed track in a time of 68.95 seconds with Boston MVNZ. Mitch Brown and NHL Dragon Fly were nearly four second slower for second place ahead of Coco Miles and EMCEE Gwynedd. John Cooper and Southern Son were fourth with Jess Brown and Equus Echo fifth. Round two of the Winning Appliances 1.25m Championship was a two phase class with just four combinations clear in the first phase. Jess Brown and Equus Echo were first ahead of Lachlan Manuel and Carillion M. Daniel Engbers and Boston MVNZ were third and Jamie Winning’s seven year old Yandoo Spotnik NZPH was fourth. Coco Miles was clear jumping in the first round with one time penalty on EMCEE Gwynedd to finish in fifth place. The final round of the Winning Appliances 1.25 Championship was held on Sunday with five riders through to the second phase. Jess Brown was again victorious on Equus Echo. Bridget Hansen and Shakespeare NZPH was second ahead of Coco Miles on EMCEE Gwynedd. Mitch Brown returned to the line-up in fourth and Harry Owens joined them on Valondra in fifth place. Coco Miles’s consistent performances gave her the Winning Appliances 1.25m Championship title with equal second to Daniel Engbers and Jess Brown. The Rider’s Cup 1.35m Championship, sponsored by a number of NSW leading riders and coaches, began with a one round speed class. George Johnson and his reliable mare Wondaree Sprite won the class in a time of 72.28 seconds ahead of Merrick Ubank riding Hue and Cry. Vicki Roycroft and Noblewood Park Casino Royale were third with Jess Brown on Sue Knox’s Yirrkala Zakyra in fourth place. Daniel Engbers and Untouchable rounded out the first day’s placegetters in fifth. Day two of the Rider’s Cup had seven clear combinations to the second phase. Day one winners George and Sprite were the fastest in the first round but had an unlucky rail to finish in eighth place. Vicki Roycroft and the lovely black stallion Noblewood Park Casino Royale won the class. Vicki’s second horse Kartoon De Breve was second ahead of Krissy Harris and Quality Euro.
