into ENSW membership more effectively but we have found to date many do choose to take out full membership as a result of enrolling in Equiskills. Events In 2012 ENSW presided over many major events, funding and/or endorsing all the below and others including state championships across all disciplines; • Dressage with Altitude • ENSW HOTY • Sydney CDI • Sydney International 3DE inc. World Cup Jumping • Sydney CVI • Summer Jumping Classic • ENSW Interschool State Championships • ENSW Annual Awards for Excellence • Showcase of Showjumping Individual Athlete Success The ranks of NSW membership boasts many national and international stars of the sport. Overseas our members continued to represent us strongly at the very top of the sport - Edwina Tops-Alexander, Chris Burton, Andrew Hoy, Paul Tapner, Bill Levett, Julia Hargreaves and Kristy and Lyndal Oatley featured regularly in podium finishes. At home we can lay more claim to the successes of our NSW based stars. High profile athletes, Shane Rose, Stuart Tinney, Craig Barrett, and Tim Boland have all won major eventing competitions around Australia and in NZ in the past twelve months. Matthew Dowsley, Heath Ryan, David Shoobridge dominated the dressage finals. Lani Maher, Lee Briggs and Krystle Lander continue to put NSW vaulting on the map. Sharon Slater, Tom McDermott and Vicky Roycroft have conquered most in jumping these past twelve months and the NSW saddle horse team was a tour de force at the 2012 EA Show Horse and Rider Championships in Werribee. The Be the Influence Grand Final at Equitana too was dominated by NSW riders. In the dressage Heath Ryan was victorious and in Exhibition Eventing Shane Rose won, yet again, undefeated in this format since its inception. The Trans Tasman Team which won at the recent Sydney International 3DE was made up entirely of NSW riders. Marketing Equestrian NSW continues to reach its members through various means. In 2012 our yearbook was again received very well by members, showcasing the superb results and achievements of members and event committees. Our website remains a constant source of information through regular news updates and e-newsletters. Our website received over 3 million individual page hits in 2012. The ENSW Annual Awards for Excellence, attended by the NSW Minister for Sport and senior government department heads as well as sporting stars, past Olympians, award winners and sponsors, see guests enjoy an evening of fine wine and dining and of course recognition of those athletes, owners, volunteers and officials who make our sport great. This gala evening is a great opportunity for the boards and staff of ENSW and EA get together with our members to reflect on the year’s success stories and to doff our caps at those who give tirelessly of their Saturdays and Sundays to ensure that the sport happens. The Next Twelve Months NSW plans to develop and enhance participation initiatives such as the interschools year long and clinic program and Equiskills. Another strategic planning session is on the agenda as are the annual discipline communications with the board ensuring our major stakeholders are engaged and we respond to their needs. Improved member communication remains a priority. Also essential is working with EA to ensure major reforms such as the ICT platform and the membership restructure are working effectively for all members and branches.
