1 2 3 Proudly sponsored by Warringah Dressage Association, the Preliminary Championship was our largest class of the weekend with close to 35 ponies competing throughout the day. In the end, Brianna Cartwright continued her winning streak to take Preliminary Champion aboard her second pony, Baringa Great Expectations, also by Rothwell Toytown. Great Expectations posted the highest score of the weekend, winning the 1C on a score of 77.727% and following up with a win in the 1D on a score of 72.614%. Adult competitor Michele Allan, who also won the senior rider award, rode her beautifully moving 14hh chestnut mare Somerset by super sire Rotherwood Footlight to score 65.909% and 68.523% and narrowly edge out Sydney Evans and Isabella McNamara and their ponies by a single point to take reserve. In the Gow Gates Elementary Championship, Eaglewood Celebrity and Isabella McNamara had more success, winning the 3D on 65.833% and coming 2nd in the 3C to take home Champion while Kathy Turner managed to back up from her Medium Reserve Champion win from the previous day to win the 3C on a score of 64.188% and secure the Reserve Champion at Elementary level as well. Victorian stallion Kennedy WE once again proved too strong for local competition in the Khonke’s Own Advanced classes and ended his trip to NSW on a high by taking home the Champion sash after winning both the 5B and 5C with scores of 69.878% and 64.934% respectively. Reserve was awarded to seasoned NSW pony competitor Sancha Butler and her well performed gelding Goldshaft Moonshadow. For the first time this year, we introduced a team’s challenge where riders could form groups of three with one representative in either prelim-elementary or medium-FEI. This event was sponsored by International Animal Health and the winning teams received beautiful rosettes for their efforts. The highest scoring teams consisted of Shiloh Harvey, Brianna Cartwright and Maddison Jones and in the higher levels, Alison Cox, Alison Gill and Pamela Bice. So, after a fantastic weekend of competition, we are done for another year. I would like to once again thank our principal sponsor Bates Saddles, for their support of Pony Dressage and their generous donation of two lovely Bates Pony Dressage Saddles. The first saddle was won by Maggie Hitchcock and the second saddle was won by Elayne Verner. I would also like to thank all our other fantastic sponsors who made this event so successful due to their generous donations of cash and prizes.
