1 2 3 Young Athlete of the Year - Sarah Louise McMillan • 2012 NSW Young Rider Champion • 2012 Victorian Young Rider Champion • Had a great 2012 season winning 10 major Young Rider events • Winner of the NSW State Equitation Title She is currently competing in Wellington in Florida USA and Starts her second year at University this year on her return from USA. Athlete of the Year – David Asimus Memorial Trophy - Tom McDermott Tom McDermott, a young professional rider from Wagga Wagga, is dedicated to his love of horses. He commenced show jumping at the age of 12 and has a list of achievements to his name. His achievements in 2012 include; • Winner FEI HSBC Rising Star Award. This award is given to a person between 14 to 21 years of age who demonstrates outstanding sporting talent and commitment. • Jumping NSW Senior Champion • Winner EA Perpetual Cup • Winner World Cup Qualifier • Winner Grand Prix – Snowy Mountains Show Jumping Festival • Winner Grand Prix Canberra Royal Horse of the Year – Ranvet Trophy - CP Ulixes CP Ulixes was imported from Europe as a stallion in 2006 by Charles Blinkworth and George Sanna. He was originally ridden by George Sanna and then Emily Blinkworth. Sharon Slater took over the ride 2 years ago when CP Ulixes was a C grader. 2012 was his first World Cup season. His achievements for the year include: • 5th in first World Cup qualifier at Sydney Royal • 1st - World Cup Qualifier – Silver Division – Grand National Show Jumping Challenge • 2nd – Grand Prix – Silver Division – Grand National Show Jumping Challenge • 1st – Grand Prix – Australian Championships and Runner Up Australian Champion • 1st – Grand Prix – Jumping with the Wallabys • 1st – NSW State Showjumping Championships • 2nd – Shepparton World Cup qualifier • 2nd – Equitana World Cup qualifier • 1st – Summer Classic World Cup qualifier Owner of the Year - Kerrie Winning Kerrie Winning has imported a number of horses from Europe and New Zealand and has established the Yandoo Equestrian at Ebenezer near Windsor. Virtually going from one horse they now have around 30 horses on the property. These are competition jumping horses, brood mares and the odd retiree. Kerrie has a very keen interest in improving the sport of showjumping in many ways, mostly from being an owner who is hoping to succeed in producing horses in Australia to a high level. She has imported a number of very good horses into Australia who have gone on to win World Cup qualifiers, State and National titles with her daughter Jamie and other riders. Also the Yandoo breeding programme has been established with proven bloodlines from both the dam’s side and quality Australian sires.
