The participants engaged in four streams supporting technical development for vaulters, coaches, lungers and judges. To assist this, three international expert clinicians were brought in to support the workshop programme, Christoph Lensing (Germany) - previous multiple World and European Champion and experienced horse trainer, Sofie Regnell (Sweden) and Alicen Divita (USA). There was a wide range of skills among participants and this diversity was well managed by the international clinicians supported by our own internationally experienced coaches, Tristyn Lowe, Bronwen Lowe and John Lowe. Some participants were able to achieve their coaching and lungeing accreditations during the week. Vaulting’s new High Performance Squad was part of the training group at the workshop. A national forum was held on Saturday evening with several members of the NVC in attendance. This forum enables input from anyone at any level and any age in the vaulting community and interestingly this year we had some quite outspoken younger members. This is promising for the future of vaulting. The last night of the workshop was a social and performance night for vaulters to showcase some of the work they had done together along with some comedy and fun acts. Feedback on the workshop indicated that it had been a very positive week for those who attended. Bronwen Lowe EA NCAS L2V and CE (Joint Workshop Coordinator Alicen Divita Clinic in Australia 2012 In January, 2012, Alicen Divita, a beautiful young lady, superb vaulter, bubbling with personality, took some time out from her hectic schedule in California, USA to come and share her knowledge and enthusiasm for all things vaulting with her Australian fans. Ali has represented USA in international competitions for some years now, including a gold medal at Krumke CVI in 2007 and a brilliant performance at WEG 2010. Ali worked with many of our vaulters and other clinicians at the National Workshop at the National Equestrian Centre. A workshop at the south coast beach of Narrawallee was a great start to her trip impressing us with her early morning yoga sessions at sunrise on the beach. She went on to share her skills with other groups in Sydney, including Hawkesbury and Sydney Vaulting Group. Ali proved to be an excellent coach, inspiring and encouraging her vaulters to higher levels with creativity and sensitivity. We all look forward to her completing another tour down under in the near future. Devon Maitozo Clinics In Australia, March 2012 Devon Maitozo, world champion vaulter, took another tour down under in March. He visited vaulting clubs in South Australia, Queensland, Scone, Sydney Vaulting Group and Southern Highlands. These clinics also included vaulters from Victoria and Western Australia During his 18 day tour Devon was able to able to share his wealth of knowledge and passion for vaulting from grassroots level to the elite, assist some clubs with developing new horses and give our Aussie coaches another perspective including new training techniques, skills and drills. Devon’s ability to work with athletes with a disability and his sense of humour and patience were greatly admired. 1 2 110
