FEI World Vaulting Championships, Le Mans, France Lani and Lee and Emma set out with their horses and lungers on an 18 hour journey from Germany to Le Mans, France. Again they had the opportunity to compete against the world’s best vaulters at the huge arena set in this most beautiful part of the world. It was so cool to be part of this event, we made so many friends and enjoyed every minute of it, they agreed. Lani and Emma competed on Riva and Lee on Dreamboy and they were so very happy with their performances and so very grateful to their German families, lungers, coaches for giving them an opportunity of a lifetime. Thanks to Tristyn Lowe the High Performance Director for coming to officiate as their Chef d’Equipe. Enormous thanks to Stefan and Katrin for taking these young Australian vaulters into their care and sharing their horses and skills. National Vaulting Championships 2012 The 16th National Vaulting Championships were held at Mallala Equestrian Centre, South Australia. Congratulations to the organisers on a very successful and well organised event with 90 vaulters and their horses representing every state in Australia. It was a fun, friendly and entertaining event. Judges Robyn Bruderer, Chris Wicks, Angie Deeks and international judge Eric Breiter from Austria put in a huge effort to judge the vaulting competition held over three days. Their time, expertise and dedication is also to be congratulated. We had NSW vaulters representing their clubs, Southern Highlands, Sydney Vaulting Group, Equiste, National Equestrian Centre and Hunter Valley competing in their grades. The trek across The Hay Plains with horses, lungers, coaches and families was enjoyed by all, taking it steadily with their prize steeds on board. Our congratulations to Krystle Lander from Sydney Vaulting Group for taking out overall Female Champion with Highest Overall Group Total trophy going to Sydney Vaulting Group. The E Grade Trophy was hotly contested and scooped up by Jess Masterton, Sydney Vaulting Group. First place in the Walk class was awarded to Emi Callaway from National Equestrian Centre and together with her partner Ryu Callaway she took away the Walk Pas de deux blue ribbon. NEQC Walk team, Ruth Skryzpek, Holly McGuiness, Alice Hohenlohe, Rachel Hopkins, Ryu Callaway, Emi Callaway and Heyam Hattab were most successful in their grade. The competition was followed by a clinic presented by Eric Breiter who shared his knowledge of the biomechanics of our sport and discussed the details of the exercises from a judges’ perspective - beneficial knowledge to have. The National Vaulting Championships was a great event and another opportunity for vaulting Australia to share their combined passion for our spectacular sport. 1 2 108
