With large overhead screens both horses and vaulters were a little daunted by the excitement of the crowd. They managed an amazing job with Lani Maher topping the list with 1st place, emerging as The Australian Vaulting Freestyle Final winner. A big thank you to the working committee for their efforts in bringing vaulting into a format suitable for the Equitana audience. Also to Sydney Vaulting Group for supplying all vaulters a ride on their amazing horses. This event was extremely well received by Equitana – and we are hoping it may become an Annual event. In addition to the competition, Lyn Lynch and Krystle Lander conducted two presentations in the Education Programme. Firstly a demonstration of how a freestyle is put together and choreographed to music. This certainly captured the audience’s attention. Then Krystle and Lyn went on to demonstrate the use of vaulting to develop riders’ skills and confidence and a better understanding of moving in harmony with the horse. 3 2012 Upcoming Vaulting Competitions 4 We are looking forward to the following events that NSW vaulters will be attending: 4th March ENSW Interschools Championships 12/13th May Scone Horse Festival Competition 30th June / 1st July VNSW Championships hosted by NEqC 28th -30th September National Vaulting Championships SA 24th / 25th November Southern Highlands Xmas Competition 2012 High Performance Squad At the 2011 National Championships it was announced that vaulting will be included in the National High Performance Programme.
