Interesting to note that this is the first ever world equestrian games that we have not seen Germany win an individual medal. Both Brett Parbery and Rachael Sanna qualified to ride in the Grand Prix Special, Brett riding Victory Salute placed 9th scoring 72.167% and Sanna placed 27th riding Jaybee Alabaster scoring 67.000%. The top 15 placed horses from the Grand Prix Special started in Friday night’s Grand Prix Freestyle which was Dressage won by Gal and Moorland Totilas in a record score of 91.800%. Brett Parbery placed 9th to achieve Australia’s Australia’s Dressage team finished 8th in the team best ever result in the Grand Prix Freestyle at World competition, team members Brett Parbery scoring Championships scoring 76.350%, the excited Australian 70.085% placed 15th, Rachael Sanna scored 68.809% contingent went wild. placing 23rd and Lyndal Oatley placed 46th scoring 65.574%. Australia’s best performed dressage rider at the Beijing Olympics, Hayley Beresford, was eliminated when her horse Relampago do Retiro showed signs of being uneven during the first extended trot in the test. Hayley was devastated after further veterinary investigation and it seems that her lovely brown stallion will now be retired to stud as his fetlock injury will not repair sufficiently for further competition. So a big blow for the Australian Dressage team, Hayley’s score predicted to be a top 10 finish. The Dutch won the teams gold medal on a score of 229.745 with England taking the silver on 224.767, Germany the bronze on 220.595 Australia finishing a very credible 8th scoring 204.468. Dutch rider Edward Gal lead the Grand Prix scoring 84.043% riding the sensational black stallion Moorland Totilas who continued to break scoring records. Second was English rider Laura Bechtolsheimer riding Mistral Hojris on 82.511% and third went to USA rider Steffen 3 46
