Key Merchandise Classifications – Trees DEFINITIONS Hook Construction Branches attach to a separate trunk piece by way of colour coded hooks. This style of construction allows for a fuller tree with more branches in the centre, as well as folding down for more compact storage. Hinged Construction Branches are attached to the trunk with hinges so the branches simply fold down. This style of construction is necessary for pre-lit trees. Branch This is the part that attaches to the trunk by hinge or hook. Each branch contains multiple tips. Tip The smaller stems that protrude from the branch. The more tips, the fuller and more natural a tree will look. Bottlebrush tree These consist of moulded plastic ‘needles’ woven into a wire tip. The sturdy plastic needles hold their shape and look very natural. PVC tree These trees are constructed of shredded PVC woven onto wire tips. This creates good fullness and silhouette at a reasonable price. Mixed tip tree A tree constructed of mixed PVC and bottlebrush tips. PE tree Polyethylene moulded tips make this the most realistic tree available. Cashmere Cashmere tips are split at the ends to create a ‘fluffy’ effect. WARRANTY David Jones Christmas trees come with a 10 year replacement parts warranty. Managing a Warranty Claim. First establish when the customer bought the tree. Check the colour of the paint dab if it is a branch attachment. Replacement parts are produced to order by the manufacturer and they can take up to 8 weeks to arrive. We cannot guarantee a time frame for the replacement part.
