Merchandising Guidelines: Christmas Shop THEME TREES Stores are provided with theme tree set-up guidelines for each theme tree. The set-up guidelines detail the specific Christmas tree and all decorations that are to be used to convey the relevant theme. Each theme tree is to be positioned onto a tree base / dais (where available) in the locations stipulated on the store specific Christmas Shop planogram. The tree is to be decorated according to the assigned theme and with the following principles in mind: • Each tree is to be ‘fluffed according to the instructions earlier in these standards regarding preparing your tree. • All themes must be lit using the display lights provided by the Merchandise Office. Lights with a green cord are to be used on a green tree whilst white cord lights are to be used on a white tree. • Ornaments and accessories are to be selected according to the tree set-up guidelines. • Price tags are to be removed from all decorations used. • Smaller ornaments are to be concentrated at the top of the tree and the larger ornaments towards the bottom of the tree. • Repetition of designs is to occur in order to create a more ordered look. Walk around the tree as you dress so as to ensure each style is repeated around the tree. • Tree picks are to be fully inserted into the theme tree with the stem wrapped into the trunk of the tree. The tree pick is to be fluffed/weaved into the branch. • A theme ticket provided by Ticketwriting to be used to identify the tree theme. The ticket is to be hung from a branch at eye level using David Jones Christmas corporate ribbon. • Customers will shop from the theme tree therefore stores are to ensure the theme tree is always abundant with decorations and looks opulent.
