Merchandising Guidelines: Christmas Shop PREPARING TREES FOR DISPLAY In the Christmas Shop, complete trees are required to be displayed within the Forest of Trees or used as a Theme Tree to convey the different decoration themes for the year. The particular trees in the Christmas Shop range will either be a hook or hinged construction meaning that the way in which the tree is ‘fluffed’ and prepared is slightly different. Hook Construction 1. Set-up the trunk pieces into the base and group the branches into their sizes according to the colour coded ends. 2. For each branch start to adjust the angles of the tips whilst the branches are unattached from the trunk. The tips closest to the hook are to be unfolded first. All tips are to be at an almost 90-degree angle. Tips are to be point up, out and down. As you move closer to the outer end of each branch, the angle of the tips is to decrease. 3. All branches are to be inserted into the trunk once all tips have been “fluffed”. 4. The top section of the tree is to be fluffed also. It is recommended to hold the treetop like a bunch of flowers and ensure all branches on the top are slightly curved out and up, with the angle reduce as you reach the top. 5. Install the top of the tree to the tree base. Hinged Construction 1. Set-up the trunk pieces into the base. 2. Fold each branch down so that the each one is almost on a 90-degree angle. All tips are to be adjusted so that they point up, out and down. 3. The top section of the tree is to be fluffed also to ensure all branches on the top are slightly curved out and up, with the angle reduce as you reach the top.
