Particularly suitable for sawn joints in long strip flooring or other large concrete pours. After thorough mixing, the resultant sealant is self levelling and can be poured directly into horizontal joints. When cured it forms a tough resilient seal which at the same time possesses a limited degree of flexibility. The colour pack component of the system MUST be mixed with the base and hardener components as Nitoseal 280 will not cure correctly unless the colour pack is included. The correct colour pack to use is the Durafloor Colour Pack. Refer to the Durafloor colour chart for available colour range. Care has been taken to ensure that colours manufactured under modern processes are as close as possible to samples available. However, it should be noted that no guarantee can be given of exact colour matching. Design Criteria Joints should be designed so that movement due to concrete shrinkage and thermal change does not exceed the 10% Movement Accommodation Factor related to the joint width at the time of sealing. It is recommend that joints to be sealed with Nitoseal 280 are left until final stages of construction when temperatures have stabilised and initial concrete shrinkage has taken place. Note: significant concrete shrinkage will take place in the first 28 days and sealing should not commence before this minimum period. Pot life: 1 hour @ 20°C Application temperature: 5°C - 40°C Cure time @ 20°C: Initial: Full: 24 hours (suitable for traffic) 3 days Cure time @ 10°C: Initial: Full: 48 hours (suitable for traffic) 7 days Movement accommodation factor: 10% total (± 5%) Specific gravity: 1.3 (approx) Shore Ao Hardness: 70 - 80 Specification Clauses Heavy duty joint sealant The designated floor joints shall be sealed with a pouring grade, heavy duty sealant based on epoxy-urethane, such as Nitoseal 280 manufactured by Parchem. Application Instructions Joint preparation A semi-rigid backing such as Hydrocor or Hydrocell is recommended for all floor joint sealants to allow the sealant to resist applied loads. A polyethylene bond-breaker tape such as Fosroc Bond Breaker Tape must be applied over the joint backing (or the base of the joint where backing is not used) to prevent adhesion of the sealant to the base and likely sealant failure with subsequent joint movement. Joint surfaces must be dry, sound, and free from laitance, dust, or any other foreign matter. All dry residual dust from joint cutting operations should be completely removed using a rotary power brush or dry abrasive blasting. Blow all joints October 2010
