CONTENTS CONCRETE REPAIR CORROSION CONTROL GROUTS & ANCHORS PROTECTIVE COATINGS INDUSTRIAL FLOORING SURFACE TREATMENTS JOINT SEALANTS CONCRETE JOINTING ROOFING WATERSTOPS WATERPROOFING JOINT FILLERS TIMBER FLOORING ALPHABETICAL INDEX 288 Technical Data Fosroc® Concure P Sheet Economical, polymer emulsion curing compound - internal applications Uses Concure P is recommended for internal applications to the surfaces of concrete structures, including renders, structural and mass concrete, particularly in situations where other conventional means of wet curing are difficult to maintain or where after trades, such as painting or renders, are to be applied. Advantages „ Enables concrete to hydrate more efficiently „ Compatible with many specific after trades „ Increases concrete strength and dusting resistance „ Eliminates the need for damp hessian, sand or polythene „ Rapid film formation „ Non-flammable; non-toxic „ Economical Description Concure P is a liquid polymer emulsion membrane curing compound coloured green with a fugitive dye for ease of identification, which when applied to fresh concrete dries to a transparent film of high water retention enabling curing of the concrete by reducing loss of water from the concrete. Properties Data quoted typical for this product, but does not constitute a specification. Volume solids: 17.5% Specific gravity: 1.03 at 25°C Drying time: 1 - 2 hours, on new concrete Colour: Pale green; dries clear Design Criteria The coating should be applied in a single coat to achieve a total dry film thickness of not less than 28 microns. To achieve the correct curing properties, Concure P must be applied on to the substrate at the coverage rates recommended. Specification Clauses Concrete curing compound All designated areas are to have a liquid curing compound applied to the freshly finished concrete. The curing compound will be based on polymer emulsion and have a volume solids content of not less than 17.5%. Such a material is Concure P as manufactured by Fosroc. The curing compound is to be applied in accordance with the manufacturers application instructions. Application Instructions Stir contents thoroughly before using. Spray Concure P evenly over the freshly laid concrete as soon as possible after final trowelling just after the disappearance of surface bleed water for maximum water retention (approximately 1 - 2 hours depending on the ambient temperature and atmospheric conditions). If spray equipment is not available, apply with a soft brush, broom or wide nap roller as soon as the concrete surface is hard enough. Apply to vertical surfaces immediately after the formwork has been removed. Apply at an even coverage rate of not greater than 6 square metres per litre. Ensure the concrete surface is completely free of stains, oils, form coatings etc., to obtain good adhesion of Concure P and of any other after trades and to avoid obtaining discolouration or uneven surface effects. Cleaning Concure P should be removed from tools and equipment with water immediately after use. High temperatures and/or high humidity conditions the shelf life may be reduced. Limitations Concure P must not be used as a curing aid on surfaces subjected to after trade treatments, such as painting, rendering, etc., where such trades would subsequently be subjected to back water pressure or condensation of water vapour at the interface, eg. ground floor render toppings, etc. In such cases the render topping will be broken with drumminess, cracking, lifting, etc., as a result of reemulsification by the alkalis in the cement, particularly under traffic conditions. Do not brush on to soft, wet concrete or render surfaces which will be disturbed and thus prevent formation of the curing film. Concure P must not be applied to stained, oily or contaminated concrete or render surfaces, which can cause discolouration, non-uniformity, or inhibit the bond of subsequent surface treatments. Concure P should not be used as the curing compound for any metallic based integral floor hardeners. Concure CR should always be used with these products to prevent rusting of the aggregate. Concure P is a milky white stable emulsion to which a fugitive green dye has been added for easy identification. Do not use any material which has discoloured. Always first make a test trial application for approval, before proceeding May 2012
