Provides an excellent seal over aged, weathered paintwork and will penetrate powdery coatings such as “kalsomine” and “distemper”. The product is not affected by the high alkalinity of cementitious and plaster substrates as are some alkyd based primers and sealers. Description Emer-Coat Clear Sealer is a solvent based quick drying sealer with extremely good penetrating properties on absorbent or poorly bound surfaces. Formulated to bind and reinforce powdery, chalking paint and to penetrate and seal absorbent surfaces to provide a sound base for subsequent coatings. Technical Support Parchem offers a comprehensive range of high performance, high quality products suitable for use in the protection and repair of steelwork and concrete. In addition, the company offers a technical support package to specifiers, end users and contractors, as well as on-site assistance. Properties Colour: Clear Volume solids: 7% Drying times: (25°C, 50% RH) -Touch dry: 30 minutes -Re-coat: 2 hours -Hard: 7 days Application Instructions Surface preparation Before using Emer-Coat Clear Sealer, it is important to ensure that the surface to which it is to be applied is clean, dry and free from dust and any loose material. All contaminants such as oil, grease, fungi, stain or any surface laitance must be removed to ensure adequate penetration when the sealer is applied. Previously painted surfaces to be cleaned down by scraping, sanding etc. Edges to be feathered to provide a sound even substrate. Masonry surfaces to be cleaned of all laitance, dirt, dust etc. Application Emer-Coat Clear Sealer may be applied by brush, roller or spray. The sealer will be touch dry in approximately 30 minutes and may be overcoated with Emer-Clad or Emer- Impact after 2 hours drying under normal conditions. This can be assessed at the time of application and is influenced by ambient temperature and type of surface treated. When applied over aged, weathered paints, some lifting of the existing material may occur. These areas are to be scraped off and another coat of Emer-Coat Clear Sealer applied. When applied over old paints or Emer-Clad, Emer-Coat Clear Sealer should be allowed to dry overnight before applying Emer-Clad. Note: Care should be taken not to use Emer-Coat Clear Sealer in enclosed spaces without ensuring adequate ventilation. Do not smoke, or allow flames when product is in use or is drying. Cleaning Emer-Coat Clear Sealer should be removed from tools and equipment with Emer-Coat Thinners or mineral turps immediately after use.
